The first Slutty Vegan in the state of Alabama just opened yesterday in Woodlawn, and Birmingham was there for it. If you’ve ever seen them on social, you know how much everybody loves this food. We were excited to try it—here’s what we can tell you.

If you’re craving a fast food burger and fries but don’t want the meat, Slutty Vegan will be your new go-to. If you’re vegan or vegetarian curious, but kale and quinoa’s not your jam, you need to head to Slutty Vegan ASAP.

In downtown Woodlawn, it’s just a short drive from downtown Birmingham. You can park in the lot next to the big Woodlawn mural, run in, grab your food and go on about your business.

Alternatively, you can hop on the newest section of the Hugh Kaul Trail and ride to and from Woodlawn.

Finally, you can hop on Birmingham Express (BRT) to ride there and back once that service is running, in about a month’s time.

The vibe

If you’re new to Slutty Vegan, go check them out on social to find out what you’ve been missing. The line was out the door for the pre-opening party on Saturday night and Sunday for the grand opening, with loyal fans eager to welcome the wildly successful Atlanta-based restaurant to The Magic City.

Founder, CEO and visionary Pinky Cole started selling vegan burgers in 2018 on Instagram. Demand was so high, she opened a food truck and the rest is history. Birmingham marks the sixth brick and mortar store and the first outside of Georgia. Next stop: Brooklyn, New York.

To say the energy was high is like saying people are having a good time during the fourth quarter of a tied Alabama-Auburn game…with one minute to go.
