The Hoover City Schools District Transportation Department has made a huge investment by purchasing 20 air-conditioned buses. Read on to learn more.

A $2M investment

According to ABC33/40, Hoover City Schools invested $2 million dollars into the initiative to make school transportation more comfortable for the students and bus drivers. They purchased 20 Blue Bird buses and by the start of the 2022-2023 school year, the school system will have 51 air-conditioned units total.

They are currently using the special needs buses that have air-conditioning units for summer school transportation.

Being able to air-condition nearly half of our bus fleet in the first year is a major accomplishent for a district our size. We plan to have the rest of our buses equipped with air conditioning within 3 years. We thank members of the Board of Education, our Superintendent, and CSFO for supporting this investment.

The City of Hoover’s Capital Plan

This investment comes out of the city’s capital plan to improve city areas like:

  • Pavilions
  • Streets + sidewalks
  • Trails

The addition of these buses will be wonderful for the students, bus drivers and the City of Hoover. What do you think about the purchase?
