Finding vegan dishes in Birmingham is easier than you might think. The Magic City has seen a few dedicated vegan spots pop up in the past few months, but local favorites have also expanded their menus to cater to our plant-based pals.

Blue Root Co. brings healthy, fresh food to Bham
Blue Root Co. opened their flagship location in Pepper Place earlier this year, and we can’t get enough of their fresh, flavorful offerings. They also have a well-loved spot known as “The Outpost” in Mountain Brook.
Today we’re spotlighting “Pacific,” one of their many plant-based offerings. The vegan bowl features pickled carrots, cashews and a miso-ginger dressing. Yum!

Tropicaleo is serving up vegan dishes in Birmingham
Tropicaleo is taking plant-based offerings to the next level with an entire menu dedicated to delicious vegan dishes. The Puerto Rican eatery serves up unique, innovative offerings like jackfruit “BBQ” and green plantain “meatballs,” too.
If you’re headed to Tropicaleo with a meat eater, don’t fret. They have a full menu for our carnivorous friends as well. Online ordering makes pick-up and delivery as easy as can be.

Bay Leaf brings modern Indian cuisine to the Birmingham community. A local favorite with locations in historic Five Points and along 280, they’re making vegan food more accessible than ever.
They have a tasty, robust menu that’s sure to please. Vegan favorites include the Gol Gappa Shots, Karari Bhindi, Chana Masala and Samosas. To-go and delivery are available.

Avondale is one of our favorite neighborhoods for bites and sips. Before you head to the brewery, stop by Avondale Common House for some meat-free bites.
You wouldn’t even know some of these dishes are vegan. With hits like Buffalo Cauliflower, Chimichurri Wrap, Fried Green Tomatoes and Italian Pasta Salad, you better come hungry.

Underground Vegan puts a plant-based spin on classic favorites
As big fans of their food truck, we were thrilled to hear about the Underground Vegan opening in Five Points this year.
Owner Khalilah Sowell is whipping up classic favorites the plant-based way, featuring dishes like their “Chickun Bakun Ranch Club,” crispy po boys and fresh tacos.
Plant-based dessert at Cookie Dough Magic
Cookie Dough Magic is the sweet shop serving up cookie dough by the scoopful. They have a vegan (and gluten-free!) chocolate chip flavor, so everyone can enjoy.
