July 29 is National Intern Day! Celebrate with the Bham Now interns
Reading time: 4 minutes
Yes, there really is a holiday for just about everything. We’re celebrating National Intern Day the best way we know how, by introducing you to our stellar Bham Now interns. Birmingham has some incredible internships to offer, but we’ve definitely snagged top talent. Keep reading to meet our crew!
Meet the Bham Now interns:
1. Tira Davis
Davis is wrapping up her degree in Mass Communications at UAB, and will graduate next month. When she’s not in class or working at Bham Now, Tira spends her time reading and writing outside at Railroad Park or Bradford Park.
She loves Italian food from Papa Sal’s, and never says no to dessert. Her favorite Birmingham spot for sweet treats is Double Sweetness Cakery.
Tira covers all the trending topics and events in The Magic City, and recently produced a piece on where to find the most lit sneakers in town.
2. Libby Foster
Libby is an English major at The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). A woman after my own heart, she loves the pizza at Trattoria Zaza.
She’s happiest when supporting local bands at one of Birmingham’s many live music venues. And she’s in the know—she got us all the scoop on Secret Stages earlier this summer.
Libby has enjoyed learning more about the (many) hidden gems in and around Birmingham during her time at Bham Now. One of the most special to her is Peavine Falls at Oak Mountain State Park.
3. Joshua Pleasants
Joshua is a student at UAB, majoring in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. He’s got big plans, with an ideal career of heading up PR for a Fortune 500 company or even creating his own firm.
His Birmingham favorites include the Panang Chicken at Blue Pacific and seeing local bands like JUCO and Dr. So. He also loves to catch larger live shows at Saturn or The Nick.
Joshua has been an asset to our breaking news team, and helped us share the news on professional basketball making its way to Birmingham.
4. Katiana Banks
Katiana is a Public Relations student at UAB with a passion for supporting Birmingham’s many incredible black-owned businesses.
You can catch her in Homewood Central Park enjoying ice cream, or taking advantage of the relaxing saunas over at Amped Fitness.
She’s loved being a part of the Bham Now team, especially being in the know on all the latest and greatest Birmingham headlines. Last week, she broke the news that Irondale is no longer a food desert.
