For plant people, orchids are notorious for being difficult. Like a moody teenager, orchids need a lot of time, care and love from those around them. So if you’re looking to get started with one of these beautiful and delicate flowers, we’ve got seven shops where you can find them in Birmingham.

1. Uncut Flowers

If you want orchids, Uncut Flowers has one of the largest varieties in Birmingham. Because orchids are their specialty, Uncut Flowers is the place to go. They offer several kinds of arrangements in multiple colors that are great for any occasion from weddings to Mother’s Day.

2. Norton’s Florist

Birmingham’s oldest florist, Norton’s Florist first opened in 1921. It was recently named the best florist in Birmingham, so you know you’re getting some quality blooms. Norton’s offers everything from gorgeous floral arrangements to plants like these beautiful orchids.

Norton’s Florist also has a section of their website dedicated to plant care and another section for flower language. It’s a great resource if you need some help keeping your orchids alive, or if you want to know the appropriate flower to send someone.

3. bloom + petal

bloom + petal is a cool, cute flower shop in Birmingham that also offers gifts for any occasion. This family-owned florist offer two kinds of potted orchids that look stunning. If you’re not in the mood for an orchid, they also feature Birmingham-inspired flower arrangements.

4. Dorothy McDaniel’s

Dorothy McDaniel, recently named Retailer of the Year by the Alabama Retail Association, has orchids that are truly standouts. Either alone, together, or sharing the spotlight with other flowers in an arrangement, these orchids will floor you. Plus, they have a Birmingham-themed arrangement called the Iron City Orchid.

5. Oak Street Garden Shop

Talk about pretty. The orchids at Oak Street Garden Shop in Crestline Village are breathtaking, and they look especially nice in the cute and cozy atmosphere of the store. Since they sell orchids year-round, you can always add to your collection.

6. Wild Things

Located in Homewood, Wild Things focuses on keeping their flowers and floral arrangements a little wild and natural. Their orchids are gorgeous and come in cool, chic vases and arrangements.

7. Shoppe

The archaic spelling of the name Shoppe is intentional here, with the hope that each patron finds something quaint and charming.
