From new retail options in Downtown Birmingham to familiar favorites whipping up delicious food at new brick and mortars, here’s whats new in Birmingham.
Here at Bham Now, we love supporting local.

1. Hide & Hunter
A new tenant is joining the already awesome lineup at Mercantile on Morris. You may remember Hide & Hunter from Upswing, a demonstration project by REV Birmingham. The retail store creates beautiful, handcrafted leather goods that are timeless, but also make great statement pieces. I got a brown leather wallet from them and I’d say it’s one of my best investment items that I own.
2. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream
I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream—especially if it’s Jeni’s. Jeni’s Ice Cream made its way into our hearts (and stomachs) with its first Birmingham location in Pepper Place. Now the ice cream shop will soon be opening a second location in Mountain Brook’s Lane Parke.
As soon as we know more of the deets, we’ll keep you updated on this yummy development.
3. Neon Moon
Birmingham’s newest bar opened this past weekend on March 13. From the owners of Queen’s Park, Neon Moon is their newest endeavor and brings a neighborhood cocktail bar to Downtown Birmingham.
Neon Moon specializes in draft and package beer, whiskey, fun cocktails and a small menu of snacks. Inside the 1500 square foot space, you’ll find retro details like wood paneling and barstools. Stop by any day from 4PM-2AM to check it out for yourself.
4. Granny’s Fish ‘N Grits
One of Birmingham’s delicious food trucks is about to get a new brick and mortar. Granny’s Fish ‘N Grits is known by many for their delicious menu items, including:
- Shrimp and grits
- And More!
Be on the look out for their grand opening happening this summer.

6. Ignite Cycle
Ignite Cycle has made some exciting announcements recently. First, they announced that they’ll be opening a brand new location at Mountain Brook’s Lane Parke.
But, that’s not all. They’re also bringing back rides to their OG location at Pepper Place. Due to COVID-19, Ignite got creative and safe by hosting classes in an open air warehouse in Lakeview. Now they’re ready to return to where they first started on May 4th so mark your calendars.
