Upswing brings retail back into Downtown Birmingham, including 5 local shops

Downtown Birmingham is continuing to develop and the city is on the upswing! If you’ve driven past the corner of 2nd Ave North and 19th Street North, you’ve probably noticed a few shipping containers hanging out on the sidewalk.

That cute little corner is called Upswing and you’re going to want to check it out before it’s gone!

What is Upswing?

Upswing is a demonstration project designed by REV Birmingham to showcase and improve downtown Birmingham’s retail scene. REV believes that creative shops and fun activities to do are necessary ingredients for a vibrant city…and we agree! As downtown Birmingham continues to see growth, Upswing is just a taste of what the city has to offer.

The shops are located in ingenious shipping containers built by SmallBox Company. From September 29th to December 14th, 2019, you can visit 5 local vendors right across from the Pizitz!
