Reading time: 3 minutes
Y’all know what time it is. It’s a new week and we’re bringing a new roundup of what’s coming to Birmingham. Check out the newest eateries, places to grab a brew and new healthcare facility in town.
1. Eat at Panoptic
Award-winning chef Raquel Ervin is opening up her first brick and mortar restaurant in Irondale on Crestwood Boulevard. You may recognize that name. She opened her Eat at Panoptic Food Truck back in June.
What was originally a catering company has now expanded into an upcoming restaurant with a fire menu. Expect gourmet sliders and sides.
Eat at Panoptic is set to open in January 2021 which is just another excuse to look forward to the new year.
2. Brock’s Gap Brewing Co.
Hoover may be getting a new brewery and taproom within the near future. According to the Birmingham Business Journal, Hoover local Jamie Cato proposed a development plan for Brock’s Gap Brewing Company. The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission recently approved the plan for the new brewery, but the entire Hoover council will hear more about the plan in November.
Brock’s Gap Brewing Company will be located at 5478 Stadium Trace Parkway. It will feature an indoor/outdoor space for live entertainment which makes for the perfect atmosphere in my opinion. We’ll make sure to keep y’all updated.

3. The Purple Onion
The Purple Onion just keeps on keeping on. Despite a global pandemic, they’re expanding into Birmingham and beyond. The Mediterranean-themed restaurant just opened its newest location in Lakeview complete with a drive-thru.
Other new locations to come include:
- 2581 Pelham Parkway in Pelham
- 2207 Moody Parkway in Moody
- 1545 Montclair Road in Irondale
- 3318 Rainbow Drive in Rainbow City
Fellow Bham Nower, Jacob Blakenship reported that the letters are officially up on the Irondale location, while the Moody location is coming soon to the old Bojangles building.
4. Jasper Bottle + Tap
This October, Jasper welcomed a new store to grab craft brews and wines and it’s already become a local favorite.
Brews include flavors from TrimTab Brewing Company, Avondale Brewing Company, Twisted Barley Brewing Company and more.
5. Magic City Wellness
Say hello to Birmingham’s newest healthcare facility in Lakeview—Magic City Wellness Center. This is the first LGBTQ comprehensive healthcare facility in the state and is a division of Birmingham AIDS Outreach.
They aren’t the only healthcare providers in the building, either. The location will also serve as home to an Avita Pharmacy and 1917 Clinic which helps with HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and vaccine research at UAB.
