9 Birmingham coffee shops to try this fall
Reading time: 5 minutes
There’s finally a chill in the air, so it’s officially Pumpkin Spice Latte season. Even if you aren’t a fan of the quintessential fall drink, there are still plenty of reasons to enjoy a cup of coffee! The next time you’re making a caffeine run, check out one of these 9 Birmingham coffee shops.
1. Santos
Santos at the Redmont is the newest addition to the downtown Birmingham coffee scene—but if you’ve checked out their Hoover location, you know they aren’t newcomers.
With delicious crepes and unique coffee flavors like basil lavender, Santos will become a welcome part of your morning routine.
- Hoover Location: 1021 Brocks Gap Pkwy Suit 101, Hoover, AL 35244
- Redmont Location: 2101 5th Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203

2. Church Street Coffee and Books
Strong coffee, the best cookies in the world and an amazing selection of books? Church Street Coffee and Books truly has it all.
Grab a latte and a Breakup cookie, choose your next read, and then enjoy the cool weather as you walk around Crestline.
3. Caveat
Caveat Coffee has some of the creamiest coffee you’ll find, and with calming interiors, their shop is an amazing place to relax.
Want to switch up your usual order? Try their new brown sugar rosemary latte for a treat that has all the fall vibes…without any of the pumpkin.
4. Red Cat
Red Cat is a Birmingham classic, and for good reason. With one location in Pepper Place and one at Railroad Park, a stop at Red Cat is an essential start to a day spent exploring downtown.
To get into the fall spirit, order one of their seasonal flavors, whether you choose the classic pumpkin spice or you try out their caramel apple latte.
- Railroad Park Location: 1701 1st Ave S #101, Birmingham, AL 35233
- Pepper Place Location: 2901 2nd Ave S #120, Birmingham, AL 35233

5. Wild Roast
Wild Roast has the coziest atmosphere and some of the most inventive flavors you’ll find in coffee. Plus, with a setup for children and a schedule of events, Wild Roast will be more than just your caffeine stop—it’ll become one of your favorite spots to hang out.
6. Seeds Coffee Co.
If you love cozy vibes and a strong cup of coffee makes your day, you’ll want to check out Seeds in Homewood.
Pick up some breakfast and grab coffee (their coffee cream soda is on my to-try list for the next day it inevitably goes back to “summer” in Birmingham) for a perfect fall day.
7. Filter: Coffee Parlor
Filter is one of my favorite Birmingham coffee shops, because they truly have it all. Delicious coffee, bright interiors, cozy atmosphere.
Their seasonal flavors rotate, but if they have the honey blossom latte when you go, give it a try.
8. Bizarre: The Coffee Bar
A morning study spot that doubles as a place to hang out with your friends in the evening? Yep, we’re talking about Bizarre: The Coffee Bar.
And if you aren’t in the mood for coffee… well, I can’t relate to you, but Bizarre has you covered with Waffle Wednesdays and Saturday brunch.
9. Heritage Coffee
When you’re looking for a great cup of coffee in Ensley, you’ll love Heritage Coffee.
Start your morning with a dose of caffeine or spend a few hours sipping your pumpkin spice latte in the afternoon—no matter what, you’re going to leave feeling cozier.
