At only 8AM, Dr. Grimes of StoneCreek Dental Care was already buzzing about—taking care of patients, booking appointments and way more on her game in the morning than I am at noon. Between patients, we caught up with the rockstar doctor who’s not only caring for the Birmingham community, but also continually growing her skills to bring us the best possible care.

Paving the way for a new kind of care

Part of what drew Dr. Grimes into StoneCreek Dental care was her first conversation with co-founder Dr. Beasley. At just its origins, the practice was nothing but an idea with a big vision and Dr. Grimes knew she wanted to be a part of that journey.

“StoneCreek Dental Care was very different back then. We knew it was going to be an uphill battle for the first couple of years. It took a lot of hard work to get the practice to where it is today, but I liked Dr. Beasley and Dr. Barnes’ vision and felt like it was something that was going to be positive for the dental practice. There are a lot of other corporate dentist offices out there, but they don’t have the same dream.”

Team work makes the dream work

As one of the first doctors to join StoneCreek Dental Care, Dr. Grimes has been able to see the business truly live up to that vision and experience growth. Not only with more practices across the state, but also within the company and how the team operates together.

“I think a big part of the growth is getting the right people— it’s the work that not only goes into that, but also training properly so that everybody has the same outlook.

That was a huge part of it—getting that collaborative team effort to get the company moving in the direction that it’s moving now. “

As more and more practices open, communication didn’t cease between StoneCreek Dental veterans and new doctors. That collaboration increases education and creates a culture that stretches across all of the offices.

“Being a solo practitioner is tough—I’m the only dentist at this office. It is difficult, but I would say that one of the best aspects of StoneCreek Dental Care is having the rest of that support from the practices and the other dentists in the company. It’s huge and it’s invaluable.

Being able to discuss cases, different aspects of dentistry and collaborate within the company is an amazing part of StoneCreek Dental Care. Having that support makes my life so much easier.”

Remember that vision we talked about? Most importantly it includes exceptional patient care. Of course, every doctor will say they want to provide a great experience for their patients, but StoneCreek Dental Care puts an emphasis on a full-service experience and using your expertise to bring what’s best for the patient.

“Dr.Beasley and Dr. Barnes have set a really high standard for how to care for your patients and do more than what is accepted. I feel like I learned a lot about how to present procedures properly to patients, how to make them understand why we’re doing certain things, why we care and why we set this standard.”

We often don’t think of it this way, but the mouth is the gateway to the rest of the body. The way Dr.Grimes looks at it, if you’re seeing an issue with your oral health there is likely something else going on. But, there are many people who don’t have access to that care or knowledge.

For example, potentially a patient grew up in a town without fluoride and now they have a whole range of dental issues. StoneCreek Dental Care will take the patient through the entire process of educating them on how to stay healthy.

Living up to the standards

High standards are only reached with continued education. That’s why Dr. Grimes is committed to growing her knowledge so she has the ability to offer services at StoneCreek Dental Care that you’re not able to receive anywhere else.

“I really want to expand my knowledge in dentistry and I enjoy going to courses that push my skill a little further. I work with another dentist in the company and we study full mouth rehabilitation services, which is very rewarding. Right now, there are very few dentists that can do these cases and I’d like to make myself able to do it so that we can help patients within StoneCreek Dental Care get those services.”
