Hope you’re hungry. Little Donkey + Rodney Scott’s BBQ are bringing new locations to Homewood
Reading time: 3 minutes
Two of Birmingham’s faves, Rodney Scott’s BBQ and Little Donkey are planning on bringing new locations to Homewood. By the Spring or Summer of 2021, these two tasty restaurants will be ready to serve up their mouth-watering eats. Keep reading for some of the deets.
First things first—where is this happening in Homewood?
Rodney Scott’s BBQ and Little Donkey, a current Homewood staple, will be bringing new locations next to The Valley Hotel which is currently under construction. It’s at the intersection of 18th Street South and 28th Avenue South. If you’re familiar with the area, it’s the location of the former Little Professor store and diagonal from Battle Republic.
Rodney Scott’s BBQ
If you’re a BBQ fan and haven’t tried Rodney Scott’s, what are you waiting for? Birmingham’s first location opened early last year in Avondale and has become a local fave for its homey atmosphere and stomp-down delicious ribs.
The owner, Rodney Scott, won the 2018 James Beard Award for “Best Chef Southeast” so if the mouth-watering picture of the food didn’t convince you already, maybe that will.
Good news for Trussville residents! The BBQ restaurant is bringing a location your way soon. It’ll be located at 312 Main Street.
Little Donkey
Little Donkey isn’t a stranger to Homewood. This Mexican restaurant with a Southern soul has called Homewood its home for eight years. There’s also a location on Highway 280.
Little Donkey’s been a personal fave of mine for sometime now. Does anyone else remember Friday Night Flicks at Homewood Park during the summertime? My family and I would order some of their quesadillas, bring them to the park and have a feast while watching the movie!
Thrillist even named the restaurant as “One of the 31 Best Fried Chicken spots in America” in 2018. Didn’t expect that from a Mexican restaurant? Then you need to head over to try it for yourself.
Little Donkey + Rodney Scott’s BBQ may be rolling into your neighborhood.
Some of Birmingham’s favorite local food trucks have been making their way through neighborhoods during quarantine. Rodney Scott’s BBQ and Little Donkey have taken their restaurants mobile to bring good eats to your community.
Make sure to follow them on social to see where their food trucks will be next. In the meantime, check out this article about even more food trucks rolling their way into your neighborhood.
