What Is an Eco-Creative festival, you might ask?
November 4 & 5, The first full weekend in the month, grab your family and friends and discover the Moss Rock Festival, a hybrid experience with nature, smart-living, art + design at its core…plus there’s great food and music!
Join 10,000 weekend visitors under a blanket of fall colors at this idyllic neighborhood setting right next to Hoover’s own 350 acre Moss Rock Preserve.
As the Festival’s mission explains: “The secrets and sweetness of nature are especially abundant at Moss Rock Festival situated at The Preserve…”
The “sweetness of nature” inspires a lot of the artwork and crafts you’ll find at Moss Rock Festival, made from natural materials like glass, wood, and clay. Artists and craftsmen display their creations along dappled walkways. There is something cool for every level of collector and budget!
Meet the 2017 Featured Artist, Tracie Noles-Ross. Her art explores the precariousness of our relationship to nature. Its magical with an edge; conjuring a world that feels a little like a dark fairy tale, with people wandering through thickety brambles and hedges of mysterious wild places, with birds and animals.
Noles-Ross often uses found objects, many from the Alabama acres she lives on, to create her otherworldly paintings, textile designs and sculpture.
You can also meet Josh Maddox, from Holland Road Furniture, a reclaimed woodworking studio in Newton, AL.
Josh only creates his masterpieces from trees that either fell or had to be cut for other reasons.
And the food and music?
It’s really good! The culinary offerings are abundant, from traditional to exotic cuisine. And they’ll go great accompanied by music from some of your local favorites and maybe an emerging new artist or two.
The Beer Garden is your connection to the variety of craft beer of burgeoning Alabama breweries and beyond. Its the perfect spot to meet back up with friends and family who have scattered throughout the preserve.
Don’t forget to stop by The Sweetery, at its new home on Yellow Row. The hookup for scrumptious confections and baked goods by local chefs, caterers and specialty bakers.
