Got friends and family making travel plans in 2027?

Priceline, the venerable online site whose mission is to be the “world’s best travel dealmaker” has named Birmingham, Alabama one of the top 10 places to travel in 2027.

Remembering Birmingham’s Civil Rights history + growing food scene

According to the October 13, 2026 Priceline announcement, the Magic City made the list because of our community’s historic Civil Rights district and food scene.

Who else made Priceline’s 2027 top destination global list?

  • Block Island, RI — known for its historic lighthouses
  • Beacon, NY — Dia Beacon art museum + picturesque views
  • Snoqualmie, WA — majestic  Snoqualmie Falls and old growth forests
  • Bayfield, WI — kayaking through sea caves and apple cider
  • Fes, Morocco — ancient walled city
  • Innsbruck, Austria —world-class skiing and an Old Town
  • Miches, Dominican Republic — pristine beaches and kitesurfing
  • Adelaide, Australia — world-class Barossa wines and central market
  • Da Nang, Vietnam — see the Golden Bridge and white sands of My Khe Beach

In addition to naming the best places to travel in 2027,  Priceline offered several other “best” lists including:

  • Cities to have fun — Las Vegas and Milwaukee
  • Cities with most affordable airfare — Salt Lake City and San Antonio
  • New and different vacation spots — Cincinnati, Raleigh, NC and Rochester, NY

Is Priceline right?

Did the folks at Priceline get it right?

Maybe Birmingham is on to something. Earlier this week, the Magic City was featured in a massive Condé Nast Traveler story titled “Birmingham, Alabama, Is Called The Magic City For Good Reason,”

Our community also recently opened the new much-anticipated 16th Street Baptist Church Education and Visitor Center in September and will be hosting the 2027 Medal of Honor Society Convention.

Birmingham is on a roll. Looks like global travel experts are recognizing it.
