When it comes to public transportation, you know I’m all in. Anything to keep us from driving so much is a win in my book.

Check out this husband-and-wife team working to bring a new way to cruise around town without driving.
Claire and Jason Kobza of Birmingham Pedal Tours helped the city of Birmingham put together a municipal ordinance to allow “eco-friendly, pedal-powered” party buses on city streets.
The tours are for sight-seeing and traveling to hot spots like breweries, restaurants and night clubs.
In a statement emailed to the media, Claire Kobza said that their Facebook page has garnered a good deal of community support for their venture.
“Pedal tours are available in almost any other large city in the US, so we are confident we will be able to satisfy the city’s requirements.”

With 14-passenger bikes, equipped with an electric assist motor, a sound system and a vinyl rain cover, they offer private and public tours seven days a week.
Birmingham Pedal Tours includes routes through Avondale, downtown Birmingham and Lakeview.
“The first goal was getting the bike on the road and providing the community with something fun and new.”
