Michelin-recognized Rêve fine dining restaurant closes at Pizitz Food Hall

The Birmingham dining scene is down one unique offering with the closing of Rêve on Friday, October 30, 2026.

What began as a pop-up concept post-Covid evolved into a high-end, white tablecloth restaurant that opened in the spring of 2025 at the Pizitz Food Hall in downtown Birmingham.

Here’s what we know about Rêve while we stay tuned for what’s next for the chef and the space.

Michelin-recognized Rêve offered a unique tasting menu

Rêve, located downtown at The Pizitz (1821 2nd Ave N, Ste 176) across from the McWane Science Center, had just recently celebrated a design update, which included:

• Reconfigured seating with larger round tables designed for smaller parties
• New light fixtures
• Complete acoustic redesign that enhances conversations and allows the dining experience to unfold without distraction
• New black oak flooring 
• A handcrafted French Rotisol rotisserie
• Artwork by Mandy Maples

Led by Chef Jacob Stull, Rêve was included in the first MICHELIN Guide American South edition in November 2025.  

Why did Rêve close?

Though Rêve may have been Birmingham’s only tasting menu, hopefully it won’t be long before another talented spot takes its place. Sources close to the restaurant cite rising food and rent costs as potential contributors to the restaurant’s closing in late October 2026. Chef Stull was unavailable for comment as of press time.

We appreciate Rêve bringing French fine dining in a tasting menu format to Birmingham, and we look forward to tasting what’s next from the talented team.
