The city of Gardendale continues to grow.  In late August, the community began construction of the Regional Training Institute Educational Building (940 Main Street). The new space will house the Regional Training Institute, a non-profit founded to make high quality Emergency Medical Services education accessible and affordable for the next generation of first responders.

The community has also recently added a new local restaurant called The Filling Station and reopened Santos Coffee.
