Indian Springs named one of Top Private High Schools in U.S.

Great news for Indian Springs School! The Shelby County school has once again landed among the top private high schools in the country, according to the latest ranking from online data and ranking platform Niche. Recognized as the “Best Private High School in Alabama” for the 13th straight year, Indian Springs was also ranked #1 in Alabama for College Prep and Diversity as well as #1 in the Birmingham area for STEM education.
Indian Springs School stands out nationally
Located about 15 miles south of Birmingham at 190 Woodward Dr, Indian Springs School is an independent, coed day and boarding school for students in grades 8–12. The school was founded in 1952 and sits on a 350-acre campus in Shelby County, where students participate in academic activities, athletics, performing arts, special interest clubs and community service in state-of-the-art classrooms and innovative independent study options than embody the school’s motto, Learning through Living.
Fun fact: Indian Springs alum John Green (class of 1995) recently headed back to Birmingham to promote his newest novel, “Hollywood, Ending.”
According to the 2027 Niche rankings, Indian Springs earned an overall Niche Grade of A+, placing it in the top 2% of all high schools in the nation. Closer to home, Indian Springs was ranked:
