Pelham lands new Planet Fitness, opening soon

Throw on those gym clothes, Pelham—a new Planet Fitness is coming your way! Planet Fitness, the large fitness club franchise with more than 2,700 locations throughout the world—is set to open a new location along Pelham Parkway in the third quarter of 2026.

Planet Fitness opening new location on Pelham Parkway

Pelham residents will soon have a new spot to get their sweat on.

Located between Pelham and Alabaster at 3550 Pelham Parkway, Pelham’s first Planet Fitness will be located in the former Big Lots space in the Keystone Plaza shopping center. Since January, Planet Fitness has renovated the nearly 30,000-square-foot space to feature:

• State-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment
• Free weights
• Functional training equipment
• An abs and stretching aresa
• A PF Black Card® spa, which includes ammenities like HydroMassage®, massage chairs and tanning beds

Headquarted in New Hampshire, Planet Fitness currently operates more than 2,700 locations, including seven in the Birmingham area:

• Crestline — 4500 Montevallo Rd, Birmingham, AL 35210
• Homewood — 140 Wildwood Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35209
• Vestavia Hills — 700 Montgomery Hwy Ste 138, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216
• Roebuck — 9118 Parkway E, Birmingham, AL 35206
• Inverness — 168 Inverness Plaza, Birmingham, AL 35242
• Hoover — 1839 Montgomery Hwy Ste 40, Hoover, AL 35244
• Bessermer — 528 W Town Plaza, Bessemer, AL 35020

In addition, Planet Fitness is opening another Birmingham-area location in Trussville. Coincidentally, the Trussville Planet Fitness will also be located in a former Big Lots space.

While the opening date for Planet Fitness’s new location in Pelham hasn’t been announced yet, the club’s official page is already live and inviting future members to sign up during the pre-grand-opening period.
