Good news for barbecue fans along U.S. 280—SAW’s BBQ is heading to Valley Post. SAW’s BBQ, a beloved Birmingham staple since 2009, just announced plans to bring its signature Carolina-style barbecue and famous Alabama white sauce to Valley Post, a recent development at 1004 Dunnavant Valley Road. Here’s what we know.

Why is SAW’s BBQ coming to Valley Post?

Founded by the late Mike “Sorry Ass” Wilson in 2009, SAW’s BBQ has grown from a neighborhood barbecue joint in Homewood into one of Alabama’s best-known restaurants, earning national recognition from publications like Men’s JournalSouthern Living and Garden & Gun for its smoked meats and iconic Alabama white sauce.

In addition to its mobile SAW’S Street Kitchen & Food Trailer, SAW’s currently operates six locations in the Birmingham metro:

  1. SAW’s BBQ (Homewood) — 1008 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, AL 35209
  2. SAW’s Soul Kitchen (Avondale) — 215 41st St S, Birmingham, AL 35222
  3. SAW’s Juke Joint (Crestline) — 1115 Dunston Ave, Birmingham, AL 35213
  4. SAW’s BBQ (Hoover) — 3780 Riverchase Village, Hoover, AL 35244
  5. SAW’s BBQ (Leeds) — 6200 Grand River Blvd E Suite 510, Leeds, AL 35094
  6. SAW’s BBQ (Southside) — 1154 11th Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35205

Today, the beloved barbecue brand announced plans to open a seventh location at Valley Post, a new dining and entertainment complex located at 1004 Dunnavant Valley Rd, just off U.S. 280.

Opened on December 1, 2025, Valley Post was intially created for four Pihakis Restaurant Group (PRG) brands: Hero Diner, Little Donkey, Luca & Lucy and Rodney Scott’s BBQ. However, all four restaurants at Valley Post were among the numerous PRG-owned restaurants that closed earlier this year.

Now, SAW’s is stepping up to fill that void.

“We’re excited to bring SAW’s BBQ to Valley Post and become part of this community. This area has experienced, and will continue to experience, incredible growth and we look forward to serving longtime SAW’s fans while introducing new guests to the food and hospitality that have been at the heart of our restaurants since day one.”

Jennifer Wilson, Operator of Saw’s Homewood, Saw’s Juke Joint, Saw’s Soul Kitchen and Valley Post

According to a press release, the new SAW’s location will feature many of the dishes that have made SAW’s a Birmingham favorite, including:

  • Pulled pork
  • Smoked chicken
  • Loaded baked potatoes
  • Award-winning wings
  • Classic Southern sides
  • SAW’s signature Alabama white sauce

At Valley Post, SAW’s will join Waldo’s Chicken & Beer, a popular chicken joint that recently announced plans to open a fourth metro location at the development along U.S. 280.

While an official opening date and grand opening celebration have yet to be announced, SAW’s BBQ will keep fans posted with regular updates to its social media.
