Adiõs co-owners opening new bar in Lakeview

Earlier this year, popular late-night establishment Nana Funks announced that it would be ceasing operations on Sunday, May 24 after two decades in Birmingham’s Lakeview district. Founded in 2006, the bar had been a beloved late-night haunt for locals and visitors alike.
Now, a group of local entrepreneurs—including a James Beard Award Finalist—have plans to open a new night life spot in the former Nana Funks space at 708 29th St S.
Local entrepreneurs José Medina Camacho, Jesús Méndez and Eddie Le announced the new project on social media on Sunday, July 12 stating:
Oh Heyyyy Lakeview! 👋
We found the Nanas in Mañana 🍹
We promise to make this one fun ❤️🔥
Looking forward to being part of the night life late fall of 2026! Go follow @manana.margarita for construction updates!
The team behind the project includes Eddie Le—who previously worked as general manager for Innisfree Irish Pub—and José Medina Camacho and Jesús Méndez, two entrepreneurs who operate several popular Birmingham establishments, including:
- Salud Taqueria
- Adiõs
- Unos Tacos
- The Louis Bar
In addition, Jesús is working on a new disco concept downtown—dubbed El Tigre—and José is among a group opening a no-frills bar concept called Lucky Stranger in the former Parkside on Fifth space in Avondale.
