New: Popular pet superstore moving into former Fultondale Books-A-Million

PetSmart, the popular superstore that caters to everything to do with pets from supplies to grooming, is moving into the former Books-A-Million location in Fultondale.

The new store, which is currently under construction, is located at the Fultondale Promenade in between Hibbett Sports and Casa Fiesta Restaurant (3429 Lowery Pkwy).

This will be the 7th PetSmart store in the Birmingham Metro area and 23rd in the state of Alabama.

Presently, there are stores in the following cities:

Alabaster
Bessemer
Birmingham (2)
Hoover
Pell City

Fultondale continues to grow

The city of Fultondale and North Jefferson County along the I-65 corridor keeps on growing. In December 2025, the town opened its first 7 Brew Coffee. In June 2026, Fultondale officials hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Harbor Freight Tools location along Old Walkers Chapel Road.
