FIFA World Cup Trophy arrives in Birmingham: Where to see it

One of the world’s most famous trophies is in town.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy will be on display today (Thursday, May 7) at Uptown and at the Birmingham Legion game this evening at Protective Stadium.

The 18-carat, solid-gold trophy that weighs more than 13 pounds was revealed on Wednesday, May 6 at Coca-Cola UNITED’s East Lake facility.

Only past winners of the World Cup, FIFA legends, heads of state and the acting FIFA President are allowed to hold the trophy.

FIFA World Cup winner José Kléberson Pereira is on hand to lift the trophy.

Where to see FIFA World Cup trophy in Birmingham

Presently, the trophy is nearing the end of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, which started in Saudi Arabia. 

Speakers at the Wednesday event were: 

  • Coca-Cola UNITED North Alabama Division Vice President Scott Smith
  • Birmingham Legion FC Vice President of Marketing and Fan Engagement Stephanie Wood
  • Mayor Randall Woodfin
  • José Kléberson Pereira, a FIFA World Cup champion

There are two opportunities to see the trophy on Thursday.
