On April 2, a crowd gathered by Railroad Park as U.S. Soccer Association, Birmingham native Chris Richards, Birmingham Legion FC, Soccer Forward Foundation and KultureCity unveiled the nation’s first FIFA Arena.

This opening is part of a broader initiative to ramp up excitement ahead of the United States playing host to the biggest sporting event in the world: The FIFA World Cup 2026™, happening this May.

Another part of that excitement is the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, and yep, you guessed it: That’s coming to Birmingham, too! On Thursday, May 7, you can meet a FIFA Legend, see the coveted gold-plated trophy and celebrate soccer in Birmingham.

Rumor has it that the FIFA World Cup 2026™ is set to be the biggest yet—spanning three host nations: Canada, Mexico and the United States, with more teams, matches and celebrations than ever.

The games officially kick off on June 11, and the U.S. will play its first game on June 12.

But before that, the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola is coming to Birmingham on Thursday, May 7.

What’s so cool about a trophy? The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy is made of 18-carat solid gold and weighs over 13 pounds. Since it’s one of the most recognized sports symbols in the world, the original trophy can only be touched by FIFA Legends, heads of state and the acting FIFA President.

At the stop in Birmingham, you can see the famous trophy for yourself, plus have access to fan engagement opportunities like:

  • Immersive brand experiences
  • Interactive soccer challenges
  • Exclusive content with a FIFA Legend

The Legend coming to Birmingham is Jose Kleberson Pereira, a former Brazilian player and 2002 FIFA World Cup™ champion.

Make a whole day out of the celebration ahead of the Birmingham Legion FC game. Check out more events on Thursday, May 7—all at Protective Stadium:
