Hero Doughnuts founder Wil Drake appears to be reopening the popular restaurant’s Homewood location, according to a note tacked on the door of the establishment.

A sign reads: "Hey guys,

We’re coming back. I promise. Thank you for sticking with us. And loving us through it all.We truly couldn’t have done this without you.

Feels a little like a full circle moment. Big things ahead…stay tuned.

See y’all soon.

Wil Drake"

The message from Drake reads:

Hey guys,

We’re coming back. I promise. Thank you for sticking with us.  And loving us through it all.We truly couldn’t have done this without you.

Feels a little like a full circle moment. Big things ahead…stay tuned.

See y’all soon.

Wil Drake

The note comes days after the Pihakis Restaurant Group (PRG) closed all their Hero Diner, Rodney Scott BBQ, Little Donkey and Luca Lagatto locations in Birmingham and the Southeast.

Hero is the third PRG restaurant to reopen in Homewood under new ownership, thanks to efforts made by former founders, chefs and local investors.

Presently, only two other PRG restaurants remain open — Joyland in Avondale and Magnolia Point in Five Points South.
