Spirit Airlines to launch nonstop flights from Birmingham to the Motor City

Spirit Airlines has added Detroit (DTW) to its lineup of nonstop flights in and out of the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM).

The twice weekly service between BHM and Detroit (DTW) will begin on June 13 and is available for booking now on Spirit.com. The new nonstop flights between the two cities will take place on Monday and Friday.

Spirit Airlines’ 3rd destination

This is Spirit Airlines third destination out of BHM. 

The other two flight include:

  • Service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), which began in October 2024
  • Service to Newark (EWR) which will begin on June 4th. 

 BHM continues to grow. In 2024 more than 3.2 million people traveled through the BHM terminal, a 6% increase over 2023.
