Samford University planning a new community development in Homewood

Samford University is planning a new community across its campus on Lakeshore Drive. This Homewood development, Creekside, is envisioned as a town-square-style environment to live, work, shop and play.

Coming soon: Creekside Homewood

According to the website, Creekside aims to be a walkable and liveable “town square” for Homewood residents, complete with:

  • Residential spaces
  • Trendy shops
  • Restaurants
  • and more

Samford University, in partnership with the City of Homewood, Landmark Development, Johnson Controls and more developers, is working to bring the vision of Creekside to life.

The Creekside community comes in tandem with the Samford Horizons development plan—aiming to “utilize the university’s existing physical assets to create an unparalleled ‘community of learning and faith.'”

In December 2023, Samford University Board of Trustees unanimously approved the first phase of the Samford Horizons plan—a visionary set of potential campus improvements that responds to the university’s sustained growth in enrollment.
