Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here—how you can support in Birmingham

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Birmingham is full of events, support groups and resources that help support women and families in need.
Keep reading to learn more about how you can join hands in supporting countless women all month long.

1. CahabaQue – Birmingham
Cahaba Brewing Company and the BCRFA will team up to host a BBQ cook-off! You can enjoy all-you-can-eat samples from teams and enjoy live music and craft beer.

2. Calera Goes Pink – Calera
This city-wide event raises funds for breast cancer research by including a golf tournament at Timberline Golf Club at Calera High School.

3. Bolt for Breast Cancer 5K + Fun Run – Mountain Brook
ABC 33/40 is hosting Mountain Brook with a fun 5K aimed to bring in funds for local breast cancer research.
Grab your best running clothes and head over to Vine Street to either run or walk this marathon and look forward to refreshments, face painting and an inflatable obstacle course.

4. ARC Realty “Blue Goes Pink”
ARC Realty will donate $25 for each new property listing in October. They’re also partnering with local Birmingham restaurants to donate a certain amount of proceeds to their “Blue Goes Pink” night campaign.
5. Atrox Factory
This scary attraction will be selling pink, co-branded merchandise and tumblers at their haunted location in Leeds. All proceeds will be donated to the BCRFA.
6. Cajun Steamer
Proceeds from the Tata Tini, Perky Pair Punch and Oktoberfest Burger specials will be donated to the BCRFA during the month of October.

7. Everyday Pink
Everyday Pink Shop will donate 15% of their sales, online and in-store through November.
8. JNR’s Sweet Treats
Got a sweet tooth? JNR’s Sweet Treats in Pell City will donate a percentage of sales and sell t-shirts to BCRFA throughout October.
9. Riverchase Country Club “2 Laddies & A Caddie Golf Tournament”
The Riverchase County Club is set to host their annual golf tournament exclusively held to support the BCRFA. Grab your family to watch this exciting game of golf in Hoover.
10. S.H.A.T. RC Speedway
The Shipman Hueytown Asphalt Track (S.H.A.T.) will host their very first annual Race For A Cure and will feature remote controlled cars. All proceeds will go the BCRFA.
11. Tameron Automotive
Tameron Hyundai and Honda in Hoover are donating to BCRF for each car they sell in October.
12. Botox for Breast Cancer
Raggio MD Facial Plastic Surgery is offering a botox injection event with all proceeds going to the BCRFA. Pop in to recieve some botox and support a great cause.

Birmingham resources for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
1. Brenda’s Brown Bosom Buddies
This 501(c)(3) nonprofit provides support, education and early detection for minority women with a low-income.
2. Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center
Forge offers health and wellness classes, free mental health counseling and more. Check out thir great variety of resources.
3. American Cancer Society in Alabama
Check out this organization aimed at helping those who can’t afford transportation or lodging for cancer visits.
