If you’ve paid attention to social media this past week, you’ve likely seen discussion regarding the future of Ghost Train Brewing. It started with an Instagram post from Uncle G’s Pizza, announcing that the owners of the popular food truck were looking for a new location after two years at Ghost Train.

Side note for Uncle G’s Pizza fans: Sunday, July 28 was the food truck’s first day at its new location, Hop City Craft Beer and Wine. Show them love at their new spot!

Discussion continued throughout the week, including a post on the r/birmingham Reddit page claiming the brewery was officially closed.

So, what’s happened with Ghost Train Brewing?

According to a sign posted on Ghost Train’s front door, the brewery is only temporarily closed. The building’s landlord was able to confirm the closure but declined to comment further.

Bham Now has contacted Ghost Train owner and brewmaster Taylor DeBoer for a comment but has not heard back.

About Ghost Train Brewing

Founded in 2014 by Patrick Small and Taylor DeBoer, Ghost Train Brewing has been a staple in the local brewery scene for a decade, with popular brews like the Kaleidoscope Kettle Sour, Gulf Coast IPA and—my personal favorite—the O-Bomb Imperial Sour.

In 2022, Ghost Train opened a new location at M2 along 1st Avenue South; they later sold their original location at 2616 3rd Avenue South to Uproot Brewing.

In May 2023, Ghost Train Brewing filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to mounting debts. Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows businesses to reorganize their debts.
