In 2021, Bham Now reported that local developer Michael Mouron had purchased Magnolia Point—a 1930s-era commercial development in Southside—with plans to renovate the building.

Now, three years later, a new restaurant is officially open for business.

“After many years of planning, we are excited to debut Magnolia Point to the Birmingham community.

Housed in an adaptive reuse project, this historic location on Magnolia Avenue has been home to many businesses over the years.

We’re thrilled to be breathing new life into the space with a concept built on quality, hospitality, and enjoying time together.”

Dubbed Magnolia Point, the new restaurant is a casual, full-service establishment focused on, “seafood favorites reminiscent of beach bars and surfside restaurants.”

To bring Magnolia Point to fruition, Michael Mouron partnered with Pihakis Restaurant Group (PRG), an organization of chefs and hospitality leaders behind several beloved local restaurants, including:

“We are thrilled to partner with Michael on this exciting new restaurant for Birmingham.

Magnolia Point pays homage to those nostalgic fish camps found along the Gulf Coast that we all know and love.

We look forward to welcoming the community into this new gathering spot for shared meals, celebrations, and much more.”

Located in a 1930s-era building, Magnolia Point leans on the warmth and charm of the historic building, with features like exposed brick walls and penny tile floors.

In addition to historic charm, the interior features custom tables in the 72-seat dining room as well as furnishings and an intricate wood bartop comprised of a giant felled Magnolia tree, created by Alabama Sawyer.
