Just in time for Major League Baseball to come to Rickwood Field, this highly-anticipated soul food restaurant opened down the block on Lomb Avenue. Mama’ Nem Southern Kitchen specializes in comfort food with a fine dining atmosphere, serving everything from biscuits and gravy to steak and lobster dinner.

“I wanted to build a place where people can start their day off with a hot meal—think biscuits, gravy and coffee—in the morning and come back in the evening to get a good looking, delicious dinner at an affordable price point. I’m so excited to cater to this type of vibe here in my home.”

2. The Burrow Bookstore | Leeds

A new bookstore is celebrating its grand opening in downtown Leeds on Monday, June 24. The Burrow Bookstore is owned by locals Andi and Josh Argo, who live in Leeds and wanted to open a place where the community could connect over books and good conversation.

If you haven’t already noticed, the Greenwise Market at Lane Parke in Mountain Brook Village has completed its transformation into a traditional Publix. A little over a year ago, Publix announced it was changing its earth-friendly Greenwise Market stores into the Publix brand.

Despite the changeover, several Greenwise brands will remain on the store’s shelves.

Coming soon

You might remember earlier this year when we announced that Nashville-based burger joint Joyland is moving into the former home of Rodney Scott’s in Avondale. Recently, the restaurant’s signage was put up and the building was painted in Joyland’s signature rainbow colors.

While the restaurant hasn’t announced an opening date, we’re excited for Joyland to join the Avondale community.

5. Fairway Social | Urban Supply
