6 new + coming soon businesses around the Birmingham area—plus one closing

Happy Monday, Birmingham! It’s a new week, and that means an all new roundup of businesses opening up in the Magic City. From a tasty Indian restaurant and a popular men’s retailer to one Lakeview restaurant closing indefinitely—here’s what you need to know.

New openings

1. Desi Tadka Hoover

Located on Montgomery Highway, this tasty restaurant and bar serves Indian dishes and drinks. They have all of the classics, including chicken vindaloo, pani poori and my favorite—mango lassi.

2. Deliciously Mountain Brook Village

Sweet treats don’t have to be a guilty pleasure. At Deliciously, a new micro-market in Mountain Brook, you’ll find all kinds of sweets and treats made from clean, 100% real ingredients. Swing by to try live-roasted s’mores, better-for-you snacks and Birmingham’s only dedicated non-alcoholic bottle shop. 

3. The Sage | Pepper Place

Birmingham’s newest event venue has opened in Pepper Place. Opened by the owners of MELT, Sage is the perfect venue for weddings, showers and celebrations of all kinds.

4. Shoppes at District 31 | Alabaster

Last week, the Alabaster City Council approved a development agreement for the first phase of District 31—a shopping center coming soon to Alabaster. The new retail development will include four buildings facing U.S. 31, near where the former Cannon Quik Stop gas station once resided.

So far, six tenants have been confirmed:

  • CAVA
  • Chipotle
  • Five Guys Burgers and Fries 
  • Nothing Bundt Cakes
  • Tropical Smoothie Cafe
  • Aspen Dental

5. Feast Catering | Crestline

Local chef Lindsey Noto-King is teaming up with entrepreneur Brett Ables to introduce a new brick-and-mortar catering service to the Birmingham area. Opening July 1, Feast partners with local businesses to make catering easy and personalized for your group.

Choose from a wide array of local restaurants, like Saw’s BBQ, Super Chix and MELT.

6. Peter Millar | The Summit

A popular men’s retailer is coming soon to The Summit between Sephora and Travis Matthew. Peter Millar sells all kinds of luxury menswear, from golf apparel to wedding attire and more. The Summit location will be its first store in Alabama.

7. Moe’s Original BBQ | Lakeview

According to a recent Instagram post, Moe’s in Lakeview will be temporarily closed due to a kitchen fire that occurred on Saturday, June 15.
