Think there’s nothing to do in Birmingham? We disagree

I’ve heard plenty of people say there is nothing to do in Birmingham, or even refer to it as “Boring-ham.”
As someone who’s lived in the Magic City for the past five years, I can say that I wholeheartedly disagree. Now, I’m going to prove it to you.
Master a skill or learn something new
From pottery classes to learning a new language, there are plenty of ways around town for you test your knowledge, master a skill and have fun.

Trying to explore the city but want to stick to a budget? Bham has just what you’re looking for.
Walking around the park on my lunch break or hiking on the weekends has become one of my favorite ways to see the beauty of Birmingham. And I do it alone!
Go see everything our city has to offer, regardless if anyone joins you.
- Bask in the beauty of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
- Enjoy city views at Vulcan Park.
- Get active in the cycling community.
- Go on a picnic at some of the coolest local parks.
- Hike along Birmingham’s best trails.
- Make a splash at area lakes.
- Roam the Birmingham Museum of Art.
- Take a fitness, cooking or dance class at Railroad Park.
- Volunteer with Birmingham organizations.
- Watch unique sports at the Alabama State Games, June 7-9.
Get out + about in the Magic City
Maybe you’re a huge sports fan and want to support your local teams, or maybe you’d rather explore Birmingham’s art and literary scene—whatever you’re itching to do, Birmingham has plenty of options.

- Dive into Birmingham’s literary world.

The Magic City is a place to get out of your comfort zone. Eat lunch alone, introduce yourself to that person, invite someone new to coffee. Whatever it is, Birmingham is the perfect city to try it.
