NEW: Miracle Pizza Co. coming to Avondale mid-April
Exciting news for Avondale! Miracle Pizza Co. and Avondale Brewing Co. are excited to announce the opening of a new restaurant concept, Miracle Pizza Co., in the former Post Office Pies location in the Avondale Business District at 209 41st Street S.

Last month, we were sad to report that Post Office Pies closed their Avondale location after 10 years. Now, we are happy to announce that a brand-new pizza joint will be opening in that same space in mid-April.
Following the closure of Post Office Pies’ Avondale location in February, Avondale Brewing Co. saw an opportunity to add a more extensive food option to the existing brewery experience. After talking to friends and other contacts, the brewery contacted Ben McPherson, a chef and veteran restauranteur out of Houston.
“They called me and told me, ‘Hey, I need you to drop what you’re doing, jump in the car and come look at this space in Avondale.’ I cleared my schedule and drove 12 hours from Houston to Birmingham to see the space—and it was perfect!”

What to expect at Miracle Pizza Co.
A veteran pizzamaker, Ben McPherson learned how to make Roman style pizza from Massimiliano Saieva, a member of the World Pizza Champions and a master of Roman style pizza.
What makes Roman style pizza different from other types, such as Neapolitan style pizza?
“Neapolitan style is best in a hot, wood-fired stove and features a really thin crust that can be fully cooked within 90 seconds. Roman style takes longer to cook, which gives the dough time to become extremely tender. It simply melts in your mouth!”

At Miracle Pizza Co., you’ll find 6-8 different Italian-inspired New York pizza options with both meat and vegetable offerings. In addition, Miracle Pizza Co, will also offer several appetizer, salad and sandwich menu items in addition to pizza.
Opening in Avondale mid-April
According to Ben, Miracle Pizza Co. is aiming to open in mid-April.
“It’s not about me, it’s about the community. I’m just some guy who was lucky enough to train under a truly incredible pizza maker, and now I get to share my craft with other people. I’m just so happy to be here. I always loved this city growing up—it took me 27 years to get here, but I’m here and I couldn’t be more excited.”

Miracle Pizza Co. is the latest in a string of new and coming soon openings in Avondale, including:
- PURE Taqueria opening a new location in the former MELT space in Avondale
- Homewood favorite Lag’s Eatery coming to Avondale after 15-year hiatus
- Joyland coming to former Rodney Scott’s BBQ, Bottletree location in Avondale
