Closing after 10 years in Avondale
Opened in March 2014 by Mike Wilson, Brandon Cain and chef John Hall, Post Office Pies was known for its locally sourced ingredients, fresh-made dough in house and—of course—delicious pizzas. The restaurant was located at 209 41st Street South in Avondale, next to Saw’s Soul Kitchen.
Post Office Pies announced the sad news on their Facebook page on Thursday. The restaurant’s last day will be Sunday, February 4—however, Post Office Pies’ second location, which opened in Mountain Brook in 2020, will remain open.
Post Office Pies is the latest of a string of longtime Avondale establishments that have announced their plans to close. Last week, local pet supply store Sheppard’s Pet Supply announced that they would be closing in March. Yesterday, Ore Mercantile announced that they would be closing later this month.
