Shoe retailer at Birmingham’s Brook Highland Plaza closes

Former Rack Room Shoes location at Brook Highland (Grace Howard/Bham Now)

Rack Room Shoes at Brook Highland Plaza in Birmingham on Highway 280 has closed.

Reports about the footwear chain’s closure were first seen on social media by the Facebook page Friends of Hwy 280. 

Today, Bham Now visited the location at 5287 US-280 #231, Birmingham, AL 35242. Signs were taken down and the store which catered to a wide range of brand-name shoes for men, women & kids was empty. 

New Shoe Station opened in 2023

The Brook Highland Plaza has seen numerous changes over the past couple of years, including the addition of a new Shoe Station store that opened near Memorial Day weekend in 2023. 

Other stores nearby include a Goodwill store, Best Buy, Ruby Sunshine, Michael’s and Spouts grocery store.
