Happy Monday, Birmingham. Start the new week by getting in the know. Eight new businesses, including Asian street food and unique pancake hot dogs, are headed to The Magic City. Let’s take a look.
1. The Hair Bar | Cahaba Heights
The Hair Bar is thrilled to announce its grand relocation to Cahaba Heights. This move signifies a major milestone for The Hair Bar, offering a larger, fully-customized space. Clients can expect their favorite hair services along with new offerings like therapeutic massage, a head spa and a diverse range of makeup services.

2. The Mayor | Lakeview
EastWest owner Colby Conklin opened his third restaurant in Birmingham. The Mayor, located at 2808 7th Ave S. in the Lakeview District between Hattie Bs and Umani, features a menu similar to that of Conklin’s EastWest downtown.

3. Glass Panda | Hoover
Glass Panda, a new Asian street food-inspired restaurant, is set to open in Hoover by the end of February. Offering elevated street food with influences from Japanese, Korean and Chinese cuisine, the restaurant aims to provide a unique dining experience.

4. Phil Sandoval’s | Hoover
Phil Sandoval’s Mexican Restaurant is set to open its third spot in Hoover. Owned by Power Brands Hospitality Group, the restaurant is known for its delicious Mexican cuisine, cocktails and daily specials. The Huntsville and Madison branches host weeknight events like trivia nights, paint parties and school spirit nights.

5. Spice of Life Jamaica | Linn Park
Birmingham’s Downtown welcomes Spice of Life Jamaica, located near Historic Linn Park. The restaurant occupies the former Lady E’s Chick’n Cafe spot. Leroy Russell, owner, has been in the restaurant business for 29 years. Along with Jamaican cuisine, he knows how to serve up Italian, French, Hispanic, Creole and American meals.

6. Stone Age Korean BBQ | Riverchase Galleria
Stone Age Korean BBQ, originally based in Huntsville, has expanded to Birmingham with its first location at the Riverchase Galleria, celebrating its grand opening on Valentine’s Day. Specializing in grilled meat and seafood plates, rice, dumplings and other Korean favorites. Stone Age is a popular destination both in Huntsville and now Birmingham.

7. Joyland | Avondale
Joyland, a beloved Nashville fast-casual concept influenced by early fast-food restaurant culture, is set to debut in Birmingham. Renowned chef Sean Brock, a James Beard Award winner, collaborates with the owners of Pihakis Restaurant Group (PRG) and Southall Farm and Inn from Franklin, TN, to bring Joyland to The Magic City this spring.

8. Yummy’s Garage | Roebuck
A new Birmingham restaurant on Parkway East offers family-friendly meals and desserts during the day and live entertainment for adults at night. Yummy’s Garage will serve a brunch and lunch menu starting at 10:00 AM daily from Tuesday to Saturday, with offerings ranging from traditional burgers to omelets. Kids can enjoy cinnamon dogs, a unique pancake hot dog and Yummy’s famous ice cream.
