Yum Yai Street Thai taking over Magnolia Point in Southside Birmingham
Reading time: 2 minutes

Yum Yai Street Thai, the popular Thai restaurant on Hwy 280, is opening its second location in the Birmingham metro area.
Yum Yai announced Tuesday that it’s moving into the space where Magnolia Point Restaurant currently operates.
Earlier in the day, AL.com reported Magnolia Point Restaurant is closing on November 2nd.
Below is the Facebook post by Yum Yai Street Thai describing the move.
The arrival of a new Yum Yai restaurant comes seven years after their original restaurant at 2131 7th Avenue South was destroyed by a fire.
The new Yum Yai Magnolia Point location at 2234 Magnolia Avenue is only a couple blocks south of the old Yum Yai spot.
About Magnolia Point

Magnolia Point Restaurant opened two years ago after the 1930s-era building was beautifully restored. The 72-seat dining room space features exposed brick walls and penny tile floors as well as an intricate wood bartop composed of a giant felled Magnolia tree, created by Alabama Sawyer.
The exterior of the building has a mural featuring the Birmingham Batman, a legendary Southside resident who cruised around the Magic City helping distressed motorists.
According to their social media posts Yum Yai expects its new Southside Birmingham location to open in early 2027.
