NEW: 17 delicious openings we can’t wait to try in 2024

Birmingham is always buzzing with the launch of trendy new restaurants. As we get ready to welcome 2024, we’ve compiled a list of seventeen upcoming eateries, cafes and establishments set to launch in the new year. Let’s dive in.

1. Outback Steakhouse | 20 Midtown

Calling all Bloomin’ Onion lovers. The popular Outback Steakhouse, founded in the late 80s, is planning to open in early 2024 at 20 Midtown across from Publix.

2. Lloyd’s Restaurant | Birmingham

In a recent Facebook post, Lloyd’s Restaurant revealed its plans to open a new Birmingham location coming late 2024. We can’t wait to welcome this beloved establishment back to the community after losing both locations in 2023.

3. Dryft Coffee | Printer’s Corner

Dryft Coffee has been roasting and serving coffee (grown by women!) out of their pop-up camper. In 2024, they’re expanding to Parkside, setting up their permanent home on the ground floor of Printer’s Corner—a sought-after mixed-use development in downtown Birmingham.

4. Eggholic | Five Points South

Get ready for a taste of Indian street food in Five Points South. Eggholic, a restaurant chain specializing in this delectable cuisine, is set to open in the former Waffle House space in 2024. Originally founded in Chicago, Eggholic has expanded across North America and is now bringing its flavors to Birmingham.

5. Luca | Homewood

Exciting news for Italian food enthusiasts! Homewood is set to welcome Luca, a brand-new Italian restaurant and market in 2024. Get ready to indulge in delectable Italian cuisine, and stay tuned for more details to come.

6. Salud Taqueria | Webb Building

Prepare for the arrival of a late-night hotspot in Birmingham in 2024! Introducing Salud Taqueria, an upcoming bar and restaurant led by a dynamic team of successful entrepreneurs. This talented group has already made its mark with some of The Magic City’s finest establishments, such as Adios, Unos Tacos, The Ono Poké and more.

7. Slice Pizza & Brew | Edgewood

Slice Pizza & Brew has officially revealed plans for the highly-anticipated fifth location, set to open in early 2024. Get ready for a good time, Homewood—the new Slice will feature a dining area, a semi-enclosed patio, a private dining room and a full-service bar.

8. Grimaldi’s Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria | Hoover

Grimaldi’s Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria plans to open its second Alabama location in the Hoover Stadium Trace Village development. Grimaldi’s is known and loved for its coal brick-oven pizza, but also offers delicious calzones, salads, starters and desserts. The newest location is set to open in 2024.

9. Uncle G’s Pizza | Hoover

Great news from Uncle G’s Pizza! Their amazing food truck pizza has become a Birmingham favorite, and they’ve revealed plans to launch a brick-and-mortar location in Riverchase next year. Stay tuned for additional updates as the new year approaches.

10.  Crumbl Cookies | Trussville

Delicious cookies are making their way to Trussville. Crumbl Cookies will be opening in the current space next to Five Guys in the Homestead Village shopping center. Expect a weekly rotating menu with flavors of your dreams like Cinnamon Frybread. They taste as good as they look and come in a signature pink box!

11. Culinary Dropout | The Summit

Culinary Dropout is opening its first Alabama location at The Summit early next year in the former Macaroni Grill space. The eatery is known for serving “genuine food and drink for everyone.” There is no official menu for the Birmingham location yet, but menus for other locations include all food groups from sandwiches and soups to pastas and burgers. They also serve beer, wine and cocktails.

12. Chick-fil-A | UAB Hill Student Center

Get ready for a treat at the University of Alabama at Birmingham‘s Hill Student Center in the coming year! Bham Now has verified that a new Chick-fil-A location will be serving up waffle fries, chicken sandwiches, iced sweet tea and more when it opens its doors in 2024.

13. Super Chix | Highway 280 

Super Chix is coming to Highway 280. The fast-food restaurant specializes in chicken-based menu items. This will be the restaurant’s fourth location in Alabama with other locations in Hoover, Madison and Huntsville. The restaurant is known for its fresh and hand-breaded chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders and wings.

14. Little Betty Steak Bar | Lane Parke

Mountain Brook welcomes Little Betty Steak Bar. The new steakhouse is owned by Revival Restaurant Group, an Atlanta-based restaurant collective. According to their website, Little Betty Steak Bar is “an elegant, first-rate steakhouse and bar with a lively environment beautifully built to make you feel at home.” While the new restaurant is completely booked through the remainder of 2023—we can’t wait to stop by in 2024.

15. Popbar + Baba Java | Homewood

There’s a new development in the works called The Edge that will bring food, drinks, retail and more to the Edgewood neighborhood. According to Harbert Realty Services, Popbar and Baba Java Coffee have plans to open up shop in the new development. The combined Baba Java and Popbar shop will be Popbar’s second Alabama location and Baba Java’s third location.

16. Bluff Park Coffee Collective | Bluff Park

Daysol Coffee + Good Neighbor Baking are coming to the heart of Bluff Park in 2024. Keep an eye out for further details to come!

17. Capella Pizzeria | Trussville

Capella Pizzeria is opening its second Birmingham location in Homestead Village. The family-owned restaurant brings Italy to the Greater Birmingham Area with custom wood-fired pizza, community-style tables, classic Italian music and European football games on TV.
