It’s no secret that Alabama produces some of the best craft beers around. BeerAdvocate, a beer-ranking database where users can research and rate their favorite beers, compiled a list of the top-rated beers in Alabama and surprise, surprise—Birmingham takes the cake with the top four beers in the state.

1. Hitchhiker—Good People Brewing Co.

Ranked number one is the Hitchhiker IPA from Good People Brewing Co. Hoppy and floral with notes of pineapple, grapefruit, orange and caramel malt—this is a beer you’ll likely find at any Birmingham restaurant or bar that knows what’s good for them.

2. Snake Handler Double IPA—Good People Brewing Co.

Coming in at number two, Good People is on a roll with the Snake Handler Double IPA. A “slap your face IPA” as one reviewer called it, this hoppy beer contains aromas of spice, pineapple and pine. According to Good People, Snake Handler is hands down their most requested beer.

3. Language of Thunder- Cumulus—TrimTab Brewing Co.

Known for their unique and tasty flavor combinations, TrimTab Brewing Company is one of most beloved breweries in The Magic City. Taking third place is TrimTab’s Language of Thunder- Cumulus, a bourbon barrel-aged Imperial stout aged with vanilla beans and toasted coconut.

4. Light Visions: Theory of Abundance—TrimTab Brewing Co.

Rounding out the top four is yet another TrimTab concoction. Theory of Abundance is a hazy double IPA with mosaic and city hops—juicy and fruity with notes of orange, apricot and pineapple.
