In 2022, Alabama voters approved an $80 million bond to improve our state parks. Now, a portion of the money is being used to renovate Oak Mountain State Park.
Oak Mountain State Park’s campgrounds–which total over 150– are getting modernized. New amenities will include:
- Expanded campgrounds
- New bathrooms/showers
- New electrical services
- A new playground
- A new dog park
Construction and campground closures should be complete by summer 2024.
Still more to explore
Although many campsites are under construction, you can still camp at the Esquetarian, BSA and BAC sites. Other attractions are still open, like:
- Hiking trails
- Mountain bike trails and BMX park
- Watersports
- Golfing
- Archery
- Fishing
- Alabama Wildlife Center
