Hosted annually since 2017, Woodlawn Sunday Dinner is an event that brings the community together over soul food and music while raising money for programs that help grow Woodlawn into a better place to live, including:

  • The Homeowner Rehabilitation Program, which provides much needed repairs to homes in the Woodlawn community.
  • Woodlawn WORx, a placed-based workforce development initiative that addresses economic mobility in Woodlawn through academic services, wraparound services support and job placement services.
  • Other programs that support the holistic transformation and revitalization of the Woodlawn community

The dinner is held on 55th Place—Woodlawn’s “Main Street” and home to beloved businesses like Slutty Vegan, Club Duquette, atra capra tattoo collective, Woodlawn Marketplace and more.

“Woodlawn Sunday Dinner is like attending a family reunion every year. It’s an opportunity to see all our community members, partners, and supporters in one place. The event has evolved and become something all our community members look forward to.”

“Woodlawn Sunday Dinner is a time for us to have residents and partners from all four of our neighborhoods in one place to celebrate the wins we had over the previous year. It’s a time to recommit to one another and our collective vision to grow a safe and healthy community where children learn and play, families live in quality housing, parents work in stable jobs, businesses thrive and everyone contributes to the growth of Greater Birmingham.”
