World renowned artist Fernando Botero, known for popular Birmingham Museum of Art sculpture, has died

World renown Colombian artist Fernando Botero, known locally for a popular Birmingham Museum of Art (BMA) sculpture at the Red Mountain Garden Club Memorial Garden has passed away at 91.
Representation of Botero’s Works
Botero’s sculpture at the BMA is called Reclining Nude. It is a wonderful representation of Botero works which often included voluptuous sculptures and portraits of elite figures.
A permanent fixture at the BMA, the bronze figure measures 48 x 109 x 61 inches. The museum purchased the sculpture in 1985 with funds provided by Mr & Mrs Charles W. Ireland in memory of his sister Countess Colleen Irelans De Tigny, the Art Fund: and , the 1985 Museum Dinner and Ball and other sources.
