Since Revelator Coffee closed in June, those in Birmingham’s Theatre District have been missing their daily cup of joe. Good news—Cahaba Heights-based roaster and café Cala Coffee has announced it will be opening a second location in Revelator’s former home on 3rd Ave North.

About Cala Coffee

Cala Coffee, recently voted the best coffee shop in Vestavia Hills, is owned and operated by Josh and Mel Cosio. Both Californians living in Alabama, the name “Cala” is a nod to the couple’s background.

In 2021, the two started their coffee roasting operation, gaining popularity through online sales and products in select Piggly Wiggly stores. After years of pop-ups and coffee cart rentals, the couple opened their first brick-and-mortar in Cahaba Heights in January of this year.

Alongside tasty coffees, Cala’s Cahaba Heights location also serves as an outpost for local businesses with tacos from Ladybird Taco and pastries from Bandit Patisserie.

Cala Coffee is coming soon
