Three new restaurants are coming to Pelham– find out what they are
Reading time: 3 minutes
In a recent newsletter, the city of Pelham announced that plans for a new development in the city have been approved. The development will feature three popular restaurants in the central Pelham area.
Coming soon to Pelham
According to the city of Pelham’s May newsletter, the City Council, City staff, and HES Investments, LLC recently agreed on the proposed site layout plans for an upper-scale, mixed-use development. It will consist of at least 10,000 sq. ft. and will be located adjacent to the Pelham Public Library.
Development agreements are being finalized with three restaurants:
- Edgar’s Bakery is a fan-favorite bakery featuring all kinds of cakes and pastries. The new location will be the second Pelham location and one of over ten Edgar’s locations across the state. According to the newsletter, they hope to offer better visibility for the popular local bakery.
- Waldo’s Chicken & Beer will offer high-quality chicken cooked either Southern fried or slow roasted. Waldo’s also has a rotating draft beer selection featuring regional and imported brews. This will be the second Waldo’s location in the state, alongside the Cahaba Heights location.
- Ellianos Coffee is a drive-thru coffee chain serving specialty coffee with an Italian flair. They serve everything from espresso, tea, Redbull drinks and frozen coffees. While there are currently four Ellianos across Alabama, the new Pelham location will be the first in the Birmingham-metro area.
What to expect
The proposed development will also feature an open patio area where people can gather or dine outside and a green space. City of Pelham Economic Development Director Michael Simon said in the newsletter that the development’s design will fit perfectly in the center of Pelham.
“We entered this process with a spirit of collaboration, and they worked with us to achieve the vision we had for this valuable piece of real estate in the center of Pelham. The design is visually pleasing. The area will not be over-parked, and the architecture will fit nicely with the environment of the area, which includes the library, the middle school, the rec center, and Pelham City Park.”

Pelham is on a roll with the recent completion of another mixed-use development, The Canopy located near the Oak Mountain Amphitheater. While there is currently no prospective date of completion for this new development, Pelham residents can expect exciting things coming soon.
