Siluria Brewing closing after 8 years in Alabaster, Nov. 13

After eight years of serving up craft beer, trivia nights and live music, Alabaster’s Siluria Brewing Company is closing its doors for good. This weekend, the longtime Shelby County gathering spot announced that its final day will be Friday, November 13.

About Siluria Brewing Company

Founded in November 2018 by Danny and Tammy Sample, Siluria Brewing is a local microbrewery located inside the old Siluria Post Office at 145 1st Ave W in Alabaster. Taking its name and water tower-inspired logo from the area’s historic Siluria community, Siluria Brewing was designed to be a casual neighborhood gathering spot for residents in Shelby County.

Beloved for its family-friendly atmosphere, Siluria Brewing had several famous in-house brews, including the popular Boxcar Blonde, Buck Creek Stout and Quarry IPA.

Now, after eight years in Alabaster, Siluria Brewing is preparing its final pour.

According to a post on Siluria Brewing’s social media, the reason behind the closing comes down to financial obligations from the brewery’s early years, which couldn’t be overcome despite the team’s hard work and support from the community.

Dearest Siluria Family…

In November of 2018, a dream became a reality.

The dream was simple: create a small-town brewery where community came first. A place where people could gather over a craft beer or a glass of wine, where strangers could become friends, and where, over time, those friends could begin to feel a lot like family.

That dream became Siluria Brewing Company.

For eight years, you have walked through our doors. You have pulled up a chair, raised a glass, played trivia, sung karaoke, laughed until your sides hurt, celebrated birthdays and milestones, made new friends, and created memories with us.

And now, we have something incredibly difficult to share.

Siluria Brewing Company will close its doors for the final time on Friday, November 13, 2026—just two days after celebrating our 8th anniversary.

Since March of 2025, the staff at Siluria has worked tirelessly to overcome the lasting financial consequences of decisions made during the brewery’s earlier years. We have fought for this place with everything we had, but some financial obligations simply cannot be undone by hard work, increased sales, or determination.

The reality is that 51% of the decisions made regarding significant early financial matters were neither wise nor sustainable, and the outcome of those decisions ultimately became too great for the brewery to overcome.

Because we have always tried to be transparent with you while refusing to give unnecessary power to gossip, there are a few other things we want to make very clear.

Siluria is not closing because of the end of a marriage. We weathered that change and continued forward.

We are not closing because of unpaid taxes or failure to comply with ABC regulations. Siluria is current on taxes and compliance.

And we are absolutely not closing because our beer doesn’t sell or because our community stopped supporting us. Quite the opposite. You showed up. Again and again, you showed up. You drank our beer. You brought your friends. You attended our events. You filled our tables, played our games, sang your hearts out, supported our food trucks, shared our posts, told people about us, and reminded us constantly why a little community brewery like Siluria mattered.

You did your part.

We have all done everything within our ability to overcome the business decisions of the past and keep Siluria moving forward. In the end, we simply could not outrun them.

But we refuse to allow the way this story ends to erase everything beautiful that happened in the middle. Because these last almost two years have been some of the happiest and most meaningful Siluria has known. Something changed here. The atmosphere became lighter, happier, more peaceful and freeing. And we have treasured it. We have laughed with you. We have sung with you. We have danced with you. We have celebrated with you, cried with you, toasted with you, and shared countless ordinary nights that somehow became extraordinary simply because of the people in the room.

So while our hearts are heavy, we aren’t going to spend the time we have left mourning Siluria while Siluria is still here. We are going to enjoy every single moment we have left.

Between now and November 13th, we will continue operating just as we have—with joy, peace, laughter, good beer, good wine, and the people who made this place what it became.

Our weekly games will continue. Our special events will continue. The music will play, the taps will pour, and we fully intend to make these final weeks every bit as memorable and special as the years that came before them.

And then, on Friday, November 13, 2026—we will open our doors one final time.

We’re going to pour the beer, play our last Play On Music Trivia game, sing as badly as we want, laugh too loudly, tell the old stories, make a few new ones, hug the people who became family, and give this little brewery the goodbye it deserves.

And sometime that night, we’ll raise one final glass.

To every friendship made here. To every song sung too loudly. To every trivia answer argued over. To every beer poured. And most of all, we’ll raise that glass to you.

Thank you for believing in this little brewery. Thank you for fighting for it alongside us. Thank you for loving Siluria.

And thank you for giving all of us something that a financial statement could never measure:

A community. A family. And eight years of memories we will carry with us long after the doors close.
