2. You’ll hear the ASO and Swearingen & Kelli perform live
Did you know the ASO has been captivating audiences of all ages in Birmingham and beyond for over a century? They celebrated 100 years of making music in May 2022. But what makes ASO so phenomenal?
Honestly, we’d be here for days going through the endless list of reasons, so we’ll just stick to a few of our favorites:
- The ASO is the only full-time professional orchestra in the state
- The ASO features musicians with astounding talent on instruments ranging from the violin and timpani to clarinet and harp.
- The ASO offers a variety of music ranging from the astounding symphonies and serenades of the Masterworks series to the fan-favorites of their SuperPOPS! series like The Music of Queen and the upcoming Fire & Rain concert.
Joining the one and only ASO for Fire & Rain is Nashville-based duo Swearingen & Kelli. Known for their music that bridges the gap between modern-day Americana and the classic sounds of the 1970s, they’re the perfect addition to this must-see concert.
Grab your tickets now to Fire & Rain on March 25.
3. It’s led by ASO’s Principal SuperPOPS! Conductor Christopher Confessore
If you’ve never been to an ASO performance with Conductor Christopher Confessore leading the charge, you’re in for a treat. I’ve been to several and he’s great at entertaining the crowd.
He’s been a member of the ASO’s conducting staff for more than 20 years, leading the ASO’s talented musicians in hundreds of SuperPOPS!, Masterworks, Educational/Outreach and Outdoor performances across Alabama.
