Birmingham woman wins nearly $10,000 on “The Price is Right”
Reading time: 2 minutes
Dreams came true for Birmingham resident, Korliss Datcher, when she won big on the American-loved game show, “The Price is Right”. Keep reading to find out what prizes she won + more.
Korliss Datcher, come on down!
Datcher, an athletic director and diversity coordinator at Advent Episcopal School, was chosen from the studio crowd to ‘Come on down!’. Drew Carey, beloved host of “The Price is Right” for over 15 years, selects members from the audience to test their knowledge on prices of common household goods.
BONUS: Did you know that in September 2021 “The Price is Right” was held at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center?!
Datcher won her first prize, a camera collection, by guessing the cost. She guessed $600, putting her the closest out of three other contestants to the actual price of $623.
Big prize winner
The next prize Datcher won was a trip for two to Lisbon, Portugal for a six-night stay at the Corpo Santo boutique hotel. Want to know the total cost? It came in at a whopping $9,308! All she had to do to win the prize was correctly guess the prices of five different grocery store items within $2 of the actual total in a game called ‘Check Out’. She totally aced and was only $1.28 away from the actual total cost.
Korliss Datcher then had the opportunity to spin the wheel for a chance to compete in the Showcase round but unfortunately lost against another contestant. Thankfully, she got the opportunity to shout out to friends and family:
“Hi to Chris in the audience and to my mom and dad. My husband and children and to all my family in Alabama. Shout out to Stillman College, Fairfield High School and Advent Episcopal.”
