Let the good times roll. (Asbury UMC)

Halloween looms ahead, which means it’s time to score as much free candy as possible! Get ready to break out your costume and deck out your trunk with spooky spirit, here are five reasons to attend Asbury United Methodist Church’s Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 23.

1. Rides + games will be onsite

Sweets for the sweet. (Asbury UMC)

You can’t have a fall festival without rides and games. Good thing Asbury’s Trunk or Treat will have many. Expect a cake walk, rope bridge, 9-square and three carnival rides. We won’t spill the candy on which rides will be onsite, but they are sure to make the whole fam squeal in delight.

2. You can build a trunk + WIN BIG!

Free candy and games are great, but my favorite part of a Trunk or Treat is the imaginative car trunks. Over the years, Asbury’s annual Trunk or Treat has had some of the coolest decorated trunks in town, like the Jedi Academy and Willy Wonka Factory shown above.

You can also put your artistry to the test by signing up to build a trunk for the event. Not only will you have the chance to let loose your craftiest creation, but you could also win great prizes!

Here’s what’s up for grabs:

  • 1st Place: 2 Iron Bowl Tickets (Roll Tide/War Eagle)
  • 2nd Place: $200 to TopGolf
  • 3rd Place: $50 in Chick-Fil-A gift cards

If you’d like to donate treats to the event, drop off a bag or two at Asbury’s children’s ministry desk OR check out Asbury’s Amazon Candy List to donate online.

3. The food is delish

Don’t fill up on candy, y’all. Asbury’s Trunk or Treat will also include local food trucks—some of the best around, too. Some to look out for are:

Free popcorn and water will also be available.

4. It’s sensory-friendly

Fun, games, candy… oh my! While an exciting atmosphere can be great, sometimes you just need peace and quiet.

If you have a kiddo or family member in need of a soothing space, you’ve come to the right place. One of the special things about Asbury’s Trunk or Treat is that it’s sensory-friendly.

From 3:30-4PM, Asbury will also offer exclusive trick-or-treating time in a calm atmosphere.

5. It’s a great community event
