About Main Street Soles

What started as a side hustle became a full-blown storefront for pastor-turned-shoe seller Spencer Welch. After discovering how much he could really make from his hobby, he opened up a storefront in July with his wife Meagan and never looked back.

You may be thinking, how lucrative can selling shoes really be? Well, Main Street Soles is not your average shoe store. Set up in a small house off Trussville’s Main Street, the shop features hard-to-find sneakers and clothes that you can’t find at your typical retail store. It also lets you buy, sell or trade gently-worn items.

For Spencer, self-expression has always been important, but he never imagined his hobby would turn into a business.

“I’ve always enjoyed wearing brands like [Nike] Jordans, and I had gotten to a point where I was getting sucked into looking like a lame urban dad… I always used to have more style than that.”

Any other parents feel that? I sure do. So, Spencer started selling shoes on the side. But as shoe orders started rolling in and shoes started taking over his and Meagan’s home, the couple decided a storefront was the next step in their business venture. 

What’s on sale?

Obviously, shoes are on sale as this local shop. But there are some extras like T-shirts, hoodies and stickers. My heart’s still swooning over a pair of pink Dunks I spotted on the lace-lined shelves.  

With brands like Nike Dunks, Nike Jordans and Yeezy, prices range from $100-$600 with both adult and kid sizes available.

Another cool thing to know: If you’re searching for the perfect sole, but can’t seem to find it, the store offers a handy “Sole Search” service that you’ll want to take advantage of. Just visit the store, fill out a Sole Search card and Spencer and Meagen will find you exactly what you’re looking for. Talk about making shopping simple!
