We’re back for more with another week of buzzy new openings—some open now and some coming soon. Today, we’re sharing a Southern kitchen, donuts, pizza, pastries and more coming your way.

Hope you’re hungry, Bham!

1. Hero Doughnuts + Rodney Scott’s | Trussville

Doughnuts and barbeque—the combination you never knew you needed. These two anticipated openings finally have opening days—August 2 for Rodney Scott’s and August 23 for Hero.

These new franchises provided over 80 jobs to to Trussville community and are sure to bring lots of joy to residents who will enjoy the shorter drive. Catch local favorites like the Cereal Milk Donut and the Whole Hog Pork Sandwich later this summer.

2. Son’s Donuts | Anywhere!

Two words: donut truck. Son’s Donuts is swinging into late summer with their very own donut truck. Not much is known about this colorful truck, but we do know we will be enjoying their tasty donuts very soon. According to the comments section in this post, they’re aiming for an early August open.

This news comes right on the heels of their Lane Parke announcement—the second location of Son’s Donuts.

3. The Battery in Homewood

You just have to see the full Reel for the tour.

We’ve been watching this one for quite some time, and we’re so excited to see the former Little Donkey space roar back to life. With a sleek brick exterior, wood accents and an air conditioned (thank goodness) patio, The Battery in Homewood looks incredible.

The exterior isn’t the only impressive aspect, though. Their executive chef, Jeffrey Compton, is facing off in New Orleans for King of American Seafood title. That being said, expect tasty seafood and fare with the charming character of a Southern kitchen and bar. The Chilton county peach toast might be calling our name.

4. Bandit | Downtown

Bandit Patisserie’s new home is so close we can almost taste it. They’ve been hosting pop-ups at The Essential and currently are at The Market at Pepper Place (where they’ll continue to be even past their opening).

Their opening date is officially slated for August, with their new retail location right next to Bar Le Fete. To match their new location, they’ve also unveiled their brand new logo (which looks amazing). We’ll be sharing more details closer to time.

5. Slice | Montevallo

Montevallo residents were left scratching their heads after a Montevallo Slice location was announced…three years ago. Through challenge and obstacles, the team at Slice has persevered and have finally opened their doors on Ashville Road.

Safe to say, the wait was worth it. Now, Montevallo will get to enjoy some of Birmingham’s best slices, salads and brews. Plus, catch Marcus Fetch’s newest mural on the side of the building—you can’t miss it.
